It's doable... frame upgrade
Sunday, January 29, 2012 at 04:23PM I am all about upcycling and I encourage you to do the same! It's cheap and rewarding. This post is not as much of a how-to but a to-do.
BEFORE: Old frame

AFTER: like-new frame

Here's the before and after of an old frame I've had for as long as I can remember.
After taking it apart I mixed some metallic acrylic paint with some matte, grey, acrylic paint.
Boone volunteered to be a scale reference.

It took several coats but it is a like-new frame that matches so much better with our bathroom (which is definitely still a work in progress).
Frames can be expensive; think about re-doing one you already have, or getting one from your local thrift store/goodwill. I bet you could come up with some really neat vintage ones!
Want to know more about the items in the frame?? They are post cards from Hawaii, matted on some brown textured scrapboook paper.
